Guitar Repair Quote please help?
Okay here's the situation, i own a vintage 1964 (Circa) Silvertone Electric Guitar [http://www.vintagesilvertones.com/forsale_silvrtn-tobc_1477.html} and it has a few problems:
1)Isotation is a bit off
- i believe this is because last time i restrung it i removed all the strings and let it sit stringless for about a week before restringing it
2) Pots wont turn (Full control through AMP only)
3) Pickups COULD be worn out?
i was wondering about an estimate price range for repair or if these are even repairable problems.
Intonation is easy to adjust. Put your new strings on first, tune it but do not play it. Bring it to the shop and tell the person that the strings are brand new. Any intonation has to be done with new strings unplayed.
If the person is any good, he will check the truss rod to make sure the neck has the correct bow.
That will cost around $20 max including intonation.
Pots are roughtly $2.50 each max. To solder, another $5. If you change al the pots and tones, figure $25 including labor.
THERE is no such thing as worn pickups. They work or they don't. end of story and don't let the person con you either.
