What is a good place to get antique gun reproductions? real working guns that look old 
?
I like the idea of antique gun reproductions being able to kind of fall in-between the cracks of the law, and since i am a 2nd amendment type of guy looking for a home defense kind of weapon, thought it might be a good idea...

I'm not sure what these whole black powder or cartridge thing is all about...
But i'd really like a standard double barrel or sawn off shotgun as my "first" gun....
but my wife wants us to have a hangun for her to use...
i guess something so complex wouldn't be good...
but I'm seriously considering trying to get my hands on one of these civil war era guns.. they are just really cool... tools of the cowboy trade
Uberti makes a number of replicas of mid 19th century revolvers. since these are replicas of non-cartridge firing revolvers, and do not, themselves fire fixed metallic cartridges, they are not considered "firearms} under federal law.. You can generally order them through the mail though some states restrict this practice. Cimarron Arms, Dixie Gun Works Midway USA and several other companies sell these replicas and people interested in cartridge conversion often prefer to buy the Remington pattern replicas.
There are a couple of cartridge conversion cylinders made to fit these revolvers without gunsmithing or with only very mnor modification. They can be found by search at Midway USA and other places. A converted revolver remains a non-firearm under federal law but some individual states regulate them as firearms when converted. Also, one internet vendor recently sold a percussion revolver and a conversion cylinder to a customer at the same time and was subject to negative attention from the BATF for selling a cartridge firearm through the mail. This seems to run contrary to existing law but it prompted the vendor to stop handling percussion revolvers at all.
