Vintage Bottle Opener
strong>vintage bottle opener
I have a bottle of 1990 Lacoste-Borie Pauillac and some 1989 Vintage Port (just from Marks and Spencer)?
I know alcohol keeps but my question is: will these still be good to drink?
Neither have been opened and as far as I know they've been in my aunt's cool, dark and dry cellar for a very long time.
The port should be fine.
For the Lacoste, DO NOT put it into a decanter until you taste it first, if it is still healthy, has tannins and some fruit flavor left then it would be ok to decant it. However, if it is brown or has a sweetish "like raisins" even in the smallest amount do not decant it. If it is at the end of its life you will over oxygenate it and kill it. There is only one way to find out if it is still good, open it up and taste it. If it is still good make sure you drink it all.
